Mass for the dead 2/3
To our departed brothers and sisters, too,
and to all who were pleasing to you
at their passing from this life,
give kind admittance to your kingdom.
There we hope to enjoy for ever the fullness of your glory,
when you will wipe away every tear from our eyes.
Another interesting aspect of Catholic funerals — we pray not only for the one in the coffin, but for all the baptized (our departed brothers and sisters) and for the non-baptized “who were pleasing to [God the Father]”.
We hope that we will stay faithful and pleasing to God so that we will go to heaven upon our death — and acknowledge that for now we will regularly weep in this valley of tears.
