All the Angels and Saints,
I ask ... a
ll the Angels and Saints
... to pray for me to the Lord our God
Not all angels are good — many sinned following Satan’s example. They envy our relationship with God. They accuse us before God. They lie to us trying to lead us away from God.
The good angels rejoice in God’s love for themselves and for us. They try to guide us to virtue. They pray for us before God. And it is fitting that we ask them for their prayers; it’s a way of thanking them for their support.
The saints, unlike the good angels, have sinned. They have the experience of being tempted and changing their evil ways. They know the joy of repentance and receiving forgiveness. They want us to share the same joy. They serve as examples who give us great hope — what they have done, we can do. They are glad to pray for us. They are grateful fo our asking them to do so.
